The Hackney Proms

Hackney Proms is a charity formed in 2004 to bring more high-quality live music to the cultural life of Hackney. Since then, Hackney Proms have promoted a number of very successful concerts and after a time without any concerts, we are delighted to have relaunched the Hackney Proms with Jally Kebba Susso at Shoreditch Town Hall on Sunday 25th March. The concert was great and we can’t wait for the next one.

Please come and join us to hear the wonderful Palisander recorder quartet, with guest lutenist, on Sunday 13th May at 11.30am. We will be at the Hackney Showroom for this gig, in Hackney Downs Studios, Amhurst Terrace, E8 2BT.

This will be a friendly, intimate and beautiful concert in which you will hear pieces by Dowland, Vivaldi and Byrd along with traditional 17th century Italian Tarantellas. Bring the kids and enjoy the chance to hear the recorder played by these marvellous young musicians in ways that will redefine your idea of the instrument.

Hackney Proms are relaxed and informal Sunday morning performances, with coffee, croissants, and drinks available at the bar. Everyone is welcome, from babies to great-grandparents. We present two 40-minute halves with an interval, and concerts finish by 1.15pm.

As a charity we need your help to make our concerts accessible and successful. You can donate to the Hackney Proms Appeal by visiting our Everyclick page or setting up a direct debit for a monthly donation.
