To celebrate the 200th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn this year, Hackney Proms and Battuta return to the Hackney Empire for another fascinating historical concert: No. 3, Leipziger Straße.
We present a thrilling evening of music and drama, set in 1820s Berlin at the home of the remarkable Mendelssohn family. The programme will include chamber works and songs by the child prodigies, Fanny and Felix, as well as pieces by the old masters they admired; Bach, Handel and Haydn.
The period-instrument ensemble Battuta are joined once again by the hugely popular baritone Thomas Guthrie, and by David Owen Norris, renowned as one of the most innovative and brilliant pianists of our generation.
